Test Information:
There is a Written Knowledge Test (WKT) given that consists of 100 questions. There will be two tests in each Skills Section: two Literaries at 180 wpm, two Jury Charges at 200 wpm, and two Q&As, two-voice (Testimony) at 225 wpm.

Each person taking the test will hear all six dictations but are only allowed to type up and hand in for grading one of each leg.

You are allowed 60 minutes for the WKT portion of the LSR test and must pass with a minimum grade of 70 (an allowable 30 errors). You are allowed transcription time of 75 minutes per Skills Section and must pass each section with 95% accuracy; i.e., Literaray, 45 errors; Jury Charge, 50 errors; Q&A, 57 errors.

Dictionaries and reference books are allowed for the Skills Sections only.

Questions on the Written Test - Info for Connecticut-specific questions:
- In Connecticut, when an attorney agrees to the "usual stipulations" in a deposition, they are agreeing to the following:
All objections, except as to the form of the question, are waived until the time of trial; the qualifications of the notary public are waived; the witness is waiving their right to read and sign; and all defects in the notice are waived.

- If an attorney notices a deposition in a superior court case in Connecticut, that attorney is responsible for purchasing a copy of the deposition for all adverse parties.

CT LSR Grading Guidelines and Transcription Rules:
All test papers must be double-spaced with your Registration Number and the page number on every page. Please use a reasonable size font when printing.

NCRA grading rules will be followed for the Skills Sections. Copies of the rules, NCRA's "What is an Error?" will be available at the test site or you may visit www.ncraonline.org to dowload a copy.

Please use your registration number to identify your test, instead of your name. DO NOT make any marks with a pen or pencil on your test paper with the exception of your registration number and the page numbers, if necessary.

If you are using a paperless writer, you must be able to print your steno notes to hand them in.

Your registration number MUST BE on every page of transcription and your paper notes when you hand them in.
If you are using CAT, it does not matter if you have a header or footer on your test pages.

The 75-minute transcription time will be strictly adhered to. An announcement will be made at 60 minutes that 15 minutes remain.

At the end of each 75-minute transcription period, a test will be collected from each person in the room. You may start the next leg if you finish early, but do not turn in tests until they're collected unless you're leaving.

You may take a break whenever you wish, but the clock will not stop running on the 75-minute transcription time except for emergencies.

Staple each page of transcription together, but each test separately, then use a binder clip or paper clip to attach your steno notes. DO NOT staple your notes to the transcription pages.

Any questions at the test site, please feel free to ask your Chief Examiner.
